LeBron James becomes a free agent on Thursday - and New York City may be throwing him a coming out party. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.
Thursday the Knicks, Mayor Bloomberg and a group of local stars are planning a celebrity chef-catered dinner party at a swanky penthouse for the hoops star.
At the stroke of midnight on Thursday, teams have the right to talk to James about a potential deal. He's expected to be courted by several teams other than the Knicks, including the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers.
James has said his No. 1 one goal is to win an NBA championship. If he pursues it in Cleveland, he could earn an estimated $130 million in salary - not including endorsements. Elsewhere, he could earn just over $100 million.
