LeBron James scores 19 points as Heat beat Magic 118-85 in preseason

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

Once the Miami Heat started running away from the Orlando Magic, they simply did not stop. LeBron James scored 19 points, roster hopeful Terrel Harris added 16 and the Heat outscored the Magic by 29 points over the game’s final 27 minutes, cruising to a 118-85 win in the preseason opener for both teams.

LeBron James scores 19 points as Heat beat Magic 118-85 in preseason

“The adrenaline and energy was certainly pumping early on,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “Our starters set the tone. Then the young kids came in there and took advantage of the opportunity.”Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh each scored 14 for Miami, which got 12 points in 14 minutes from Derrick Byars and 11 points and nine rebounds from Udonis Haslem.

“It’s good to be back,” James said. “It’s good to have our fans back.”Ryan Anderson and J.J. Redick each scored 22 for Orlando, which lost for the first time in 22 preseason games dating to October 2008.

The Magic allowed Miami to shoot 71 percent in the second half and 82 percent in the fourth quarter — while making 31 percent of their own shots after halftime. “When you have a team outscore you 22-0 on fast-break points, they’re clearly playing at a pace and an energy level higher than what you are,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. “And we could not keep up.”

The Heat scored 36 points in the fourth quarter, using mostly end-of-the-bench players. “We practice against the best players in the world every day,” rookie point guard Norris Cole said. “When we get out there and get to go against high competition, the work that gets put in shows.”The subject of trade talk throughout training camp, Dwight Howard finished with only five points on 2-for-9 shooting.

Afterward, Howard said his status is not a distraction for the Magic. “They look like a seasoned team,” Howard said. “We were off for seven months. And guys are trying to get back in to it. There’s no need for us, anybody, Magic fans, whatever, to stress about the first game. There’s a lot more games to be played.”

Magic point guard Jameer Nelson missed all 10 of his shots and forward Hedo Turkoglu left late in the first half with a bruised left hip. Jason Richardson was the only Magic starter to reach double figures, scoring 11 points.

“I know in the grand scheme of things, preseason isn’t a big deal,” Magic forward Quentin Richardson said. “But I don’t care if we’re playing pickup. I don’t want to lose by 40. That’s just me.”The teams play again in Orlando on Wednesday.

LeBron James Is Not A Mustache Twirling Villain!?

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

News of the Miami Heat's new all black uniforms isn't sitting well with the team's star player. LeBron James thinks that the new uniforms will further add to the basketball giant's villainy, according to Yahoo Sports. Don't let Yahoo! fool you, LeBron never said anything on record about his like or dislike of the new uniforms. He did talk to ESPN about being cast as a villain, however. Reporting on the new jerseys Yahoo! Sports published this today:

LeBron James Is Not A Mustache Twirling Villain!?

To these eyes, the jerseys are pretty cool. You can never dress in black and look uncool, but the alternate uniforms do seem to fly in the face of LeBron James' month-long hope for he and his Heat cohorts to stave off looking like the NBA's villains as they attempted to win their first ring together. Especially following what James told ESPN last week:

"I play the game fun, joyful, and I let my game do all of the talking and I got away from that. That's what I lost last year. Going through my first seven years in the NBA I was always the "liked one" and to be on the other side -- they call it the dark side or the villain or whatever they call it -- it was definitely challenging for myself. It was a situation I had never been in before, and it took awhile ... it took a long time to adjust to it. [...] It basically turned me into somebody I wasn't. You start to hear 'the villain,' now you have to be the villain, you know, and I started to buy into it. I started to play the game of basketball at a level, or at a mind state that I've never played at before ... meaning, angry. And that's mentally. That's not the way I play the game of basketball."

See the conclusion Yahoo! Sports has drawn? Two +Two = five. Or All black anything = villainy, including the players. Yahoo's story was a reach, it was about creating news and it's really old, stupid, bigoted and inflammatory when you actually add two and two together.

Sports and race are deeply touchy subjects in this country and LeBron, who transcended his color when he became a hero in Cleveland, is mentally scarred because of people's reaction to  his decision to head to Miami, and Yahoo! Sports isn't helping matters in its reporting a year later.

Up until a year ago, the soon to be 27-year-old former Cavalier, father and entrepreneur, was a god in Cleveland leading the Cavaliers to the NBA play-offs consecutively for five seasons . Then he did a grown up thing and made a decision to live his life and play somewhere else as an, you know, an adult. All hell broke loose: effigies got burned, racist taunts were thrown along with other name calling after Bron Bron's move to Miami.

The uniforms, all black with white trim, used mainly for road or alternate games, were unveiled recently. I think they look cool and could be paired with some dope black canvas Nike Vandals with white trimming if I want to rock a duotone head-to-toe look and if I wore basketball jerseys.

LeBron James puts post game on display

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

MIAMI -- On the second possession of the Heat’s open scrimmage Thursday night, LeBron James backed into James Jones' chest and called out to Mario Chalmers to give him the ball.

LeBron James puts post game on display

The Heat have been practicing for a week and presumably this event has been happening over and over, James planting himself in the post and showing off. But this little event for the season-ticket holders was also being broadcast on television and James, it sure seemed, wanted to leave an early impression.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra -- in a departure from normal coaching tactics, especially for a Pat Riley disciple – has virtually abandoned drilling and gone heavy on scrimmaging during the team’s first eight workouts. This, of course, has been met with delight from the players. Except for those who have to deal with James trying such show-and-tell with his summer experiment.

So Jones had dealt with this before. He may be James’ height but he’s in no position to defend him in the post. Shane Battier said earlier this week that he was seeking some extra attention from his wife in the evenings after being emasculated regularly by Dwyane Wade and James during practices in the mornings and afternoons.

Now Battier, who probably would’ve had this assignment, was on the sidelines because of a minor quad injury. It could've easily come from dealing with James in the post, where for the moment he seems to be quite interested in proving his intentions.

James spun and leapt back from Jones, creating the leverage and space that he and Hakeem Olajuwon had worked on several months ago. James taped those sessions and referred back to them during the lockout, attempting to make it stick.

The ball swished through the hoop. A few minutes later he did it again. Once he took the ball in the post and fed a cutting Wade for a dunk. Another time he hit Udonis Haslem for a three-point play. Once he found himself matched up with a smaller player and he spun and dribbled him down into position, drawing a shooting foul. Then he did it again. And again, turning around and backing a guy down.

“I’ve spent a lot of time down there and I’m in a comfort zone down there right now,” James said afterward.

James playing in the post has been the black swan of his career. It’s been seen before and promised yearly but it frankly is quite rare. After the Heat were knocked out of the Finals last year, there was a call for James to spend the summer improving that area of his game.

It’s not like this was the first time. It’s not like his coaches in Cleveland or the Cavs fans didn’t think he’d be even more of a dominant player if he’d focus on and hone his post game the same way he focused on and honed his defense and his mid-range jumper. Those had once been nonexistent, too.

“I’ve never had to do it, in Cleveland I spent time of the perimeter because I felt like I had to,” James explained. “We have multiple ball handers here … and I can switch my focus to something else.”

Well, that’s not exactly true. There were multiple ball handlers in Cleveland. But James is all about not focusing on the past and turning his attention to the future. So going with that, what has value now is judging just how much James follows through with this post plan.

Thursday was merely a practice with fans and cameras, but he showed a series of moves. He had the turnaround, he showed a drop step and several times had 1-on-1 chances where he turned his back instead of trying a series of crossover dribbles and then firing up a contested pull-up jumper.

That man-to-man pull up is one of James’ favorite moves and he’s literally gone to it hundreds, if not thousands, of times over the years. He’s buried many of them followed it with glares at the man he’s vanquished. The problem, however, is that it is a lower percentage shot. And without fear of him using his usual size advantage, teams could get away with putting smaller defenders on him. Just consult the Finals and see how the Mavericks got away with putting J.J. Barea in that spot at times.

The question is whether James will do what he knows is the better basketball play or he’ll do what is more familiar when it really matters and it really needed. Most experts would agree that if he did, the game would get easier for him even when the pressure was at it’s highest.

James prefers to play on the wing with the players all in front of him facing the basket. He likes to create his own shot by gobbling up shot clock time and using his gifts to find a way. Sometimes he’d get the ball in excellent post position but give it up but turning around so he could face his defender, a move that comes from seeking comfort but usually goes against the grain of the play.

Let’s be honest, overall this has been wildly successful. But it also hasn’t been reliable in the worst of times. And it has sometimes been a waste of a 6-8, 265-pound man with 5.2 percent body fat who also happens to be ambidextrous.

James has flirted with the post off and on for the last four seasons. A few years ago he riled up folks in Cleveland when he stayed long after some training camp practices working on hook shots. He was finally making it a priority, it was said and written. His then coach, Mike Brown, started playing him at power forward for stretches every game. And James won the MVP … playing the extra same perimeter-based game he prefers.

Thursday night James made his post game a prime offensive weapon. It was a training camp home run -- nice, but it doesn’t count. Most players don’t add such important aspects to their games in their ninth seasons in the league. But many great ones have. James is trying in December. We’ll see where he is in April.

LeBron James 'devastated' after losing Finals

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

LeBron James sure isn't trying to hide the toll a loss in the NBA Finals took on his mind.  During a recent radio interview, James admitted that he didn't sleep much following the Game 6 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

LeBron James 'devastated' after losing Finals

"It took me about two or three weeks before I started to relax and started to move on just a little bit," he said on 790 The Ticket in Miami. "You definitely didn't want to be around me the first couple of weeks after the Finals. I kinda sheltered myself and covered myself away from everybody, and it just gave me time to just sit back and think about ways I could become a better person, better man, and better basketball player. I was devastated. I've had a few low points in my life and that was definitely one of them."

James was also asked if he would do anything differently if he could replay that seven-game series against the Mavericks.  "I would do everything differently to see if we could change the outcome," he said. "But you learn from those experiences and at the end of the day they have to help you get better for the next opportunity."

Miami Heat’s LeBron James happy to back down now

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

Miami Heat’s LeBron James happy to back down nowFor all the talent and offense on the Heat’s roster last season, there was one noticeable flaw. The team simply didn’t score enough points in the paint. The expectation going into this season was to solve the problem through free agency. Didn’t happen. The market for big men was limited and the Heat’s budget didn’t allow for competitive spending. Instead of buying a solution, the Heat is hoping a little creativity can provide an answer. And by creativity, we mean LeBron James.

James spent the offseason working on his post game with the goal of providing a little more balance to the Heat’s offense. He worked with Hakeem Olajuwon for a week; and worked with his back to the basket for “four or five months.” Already one of the league’s most versatile players, James likely will be asked to do even more this season if the Heat is serious about using its versatile roster in unorthodox ways.
James and Heat coach Erik Spoelstra began planning the next step of James’ career before the lockout began.

“When I spoke to him last, we were on the same page in late June and it was already something that he wanted to work on,” Spoelstra said. “He spent some time with Hakeem Olajuwon and more importantly he spent some time working on it and that’s the evolution of great players. You don’t stop. “There’s not a point where you say, ‘OK. I can’t improve.’ The great players still always try to add another dimension to the game because defenses change, scouting reports get better and they always have to stay a step ahead of the curve.”

INSIDE-OUT
In last year’s NBA Finals, Dallas coach Rick Carlisle and the Mavericks stifled James on the perimeter and the two-time MVP tried in vain to shift his game inside. It wasn’t pretty. James scored eight points on 3-of-11 shooting in the Game 4 and was stunted offensively the rest of the series (two more losses by the Heat).

Frustrated, James went in search of guidance. He found Olajuwon, Yoda of frontcourt offense.
“If you guys ever get an opportunity to meet Hakeem, and sit and talk to him for just two or three minutes, you guys will see why he was so successful and why he is the man he is today,” James said. “He is unbelievable to be around. So, the basketball thing was easy.”Olajuwon made a lasting impression on James — “It was overwhelming. I’m humbled and blessed that he gave me the opportunity to be with him,” James said. — but it will be interesting to see how much James retains.

Udonis Haslem, who wouldn’t mind a little extra help inside, said James’ new work in the paint could completely transform the team. “You take one of the best athletes to ever play the game and if you can implement some of Hakeem into LeBron’s game, not only does it take his game to a whole other level, it takes our game to a whole other level as a team,” Haslem said. “It makes us somewhat unguardable. When he goes down to the post, you can’t guard him with a small guy and you can’t put a big guy on him. “So it creates mismatches all over the floor.”Sounds promising.

Of course, James has to buy in to make it work. Just because he has tried to improve his post game doesn’t exactly mean he likes doing it. “There’s nothing fun about it,” James said. “There’s nothing fun about banging with a big man.”Shane Battier, who is guarding James during training-camp practices, said when James commits to the paint, there’s not much you can do to stop him. “He’s so strong,” Battier said. “When he wants position, he gets it.”Said Chris Bosh: “[James is] going to have to be patient because it doesn’t come in one offseason, but that’s what we need — with his size and speed and ability to create mismatches.”

Miami Heat's LeBron James, Dwyane Wade have known about new teammate Eddy Curry since high school days

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

Eddy Curry is trying just to make an NBA team again, after playing a total of only 10 games in three seasons. There was a time when he was a star, however, enough of a star to get the attention of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Curry, who signed a one-year contract with the Heat on Saturday, just turned 29. James will turn 27 later this month.

Miami Heat's LeBron James, Dwyane Wade have known about new teammate Eddy Curry since high school days

"They used to have a TV show, Chicago Hoops, and I would watch that," James said of a program that frequently featured the skilled center. "But then when I would work out at Hoops (a gym in Chicago), I got an opportunity to meet him, and struck up a relationship there."Wade, however, had a closer encounter during his high school days.

"We played against Eddy, and I was the tallest guy on my team," said Wade, who will turn 30 next month. "After the first possession, I realized this wasn't going to happen. I couldn't guard him, so I told (the coach) I want to come weak side, and have somebody else guard him. We had somebody 6-foot-1 guard him in high school. We ended up winning the game."

As Wade finished speaking, James smiled and muttered about how it wasn't the whole story. "He scored 30 straight, but we won the game, but I didn't want to bring that up," Wade said. "I thought you wanted to share," James said.

LeBron James: Why the 2012 LeBron James Will Be the Best We've Ever Seen

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

The last two years have been an enormous let down for LeBron James and his fans.  It hasn't been a let down because he hasn't developed a post game or won a championship. The last two years have been a let down because LeBron has been playing to prove the world wrong instead of playing for himself and the players around him.

LeBron James Why the 2012 LeBron James Will Be the Best We've Ever Seen

LeBron James is going to be a different player this year not because he spent the offseason with Hakeem "the dream" Olajuwon or because he has a year under a belt with his new teammates.  He will be a different player because he won't be trying to prove people wrong.

Instead of adding a serious post game to his offensive repertoire over the last few years, LeBron added something I like to call the "vanishing act".  In the 2010 NBA playoffs against the Boston Celtics the vanishing act took center stage.  The vanishing act didn't stop there, it traveled with LeBron the whole way from Cleveland to Miami and found its way into the 2011 NBA Finals

That vanishing act existed to serve one purpose, to help LeBron deal with his critics and haters.  LeBron pretended like he didn't care what people thought about him, but he really did and that state of mind transitioned into his game on the court.

Pretending that he didn't care about all the haters became caring more about the haters than he did about playing the game the way he knows he can.  As a LeBron fan I hate to admit it, but he absolutely let his team down last year by not being the player that he knows he needs to be.  The reason he did that was because he was playing, as he said in his recent interview with ESPN, to prove people wrong.

LeBron learned a valuable lesson this offseason.  That lesson is that you will never be able to turn haters into fans, and trying to prove doubters wrong is impossible to accomplish because they will always find something wrong with who you are and what you do.

In a recent interview with Rachel Nichols of ESPN, LeBron talked about his new perspective on how he needs to approach the game and play the game: I know these are just words, and LeBron has made statements like this before.  There's something different about him this time around though, and I think it's the fact that he's let go of his need to prove people wrong.  Here is another quote from LeBron's interview with ESPN:

LeBron sounds like a different man.  He sounds focused and motivated, not because other people are fueling his fire, but because he is fueling it himself with a love for the game itself.  If you want to hear this change for yourself just listen to him talk about how terrible of a decision he made by leaving Cleveland the way he did in this interview with ESPN.

The LeBron James that we will see on Christmas day will be a different, more authentic LeBron than we have ever seen before.  The changes that LeBron has made that are most important are the intangible ones like admitting mistakes, letting go of hatred and embracing the game.

While his new post game might be a nice addition to his game, what really will be the difference in 2011-12 will be the new and improved attitude he will bring to the court. Alright LeBron, here's your chance, show us you're ready to start walking the walk and back up what you've said you're ready to do.

Hugh Douglas Rips LeBron James for Mocking Steve Johnson Who Mocked Plaxico Burress

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

I think Hugh Douglas has had a bit of an embarrassing moment. I would go further to say he had an extremely stupid and overwhelmingly ignorant moment. The ESPN NFL analyst recently hammered LeBron James over the leaked video of his touchdown celebration of a pick six in his recent flag football match against Kevin Durant. Steve Johnson has gone from hero to villain the past week, proceeding to mock Plaxico Burress when the Bills and Jets played in New York last weekend.

Hugh Douglas Rips LeBron James for Mocking Steve Johnson Who Mocked Plaxico Burress

Whilst no one argues the stupidity of Burress in that particular moment, you wouldn’t expect a fellow player, a fellow African American player and a fellow wide receiver to go out and mock another in such as classless and offensive way. Steve Johnson is a young and very talented receiver, but is beginning to create a real negative aura around him and the fact he reacted like this then went on to drop several big catches including a potential game winning touchdown, certainly suggests he is going to need to do a lot of work to get out of this one.

Burress reacted calmly and said it did not bother him, but no one was buying that. James is, at least to me, well known to be a friend of many Plaxico Burress and openly a big supporter of the guy. I am not sure if he has any relationship but Steve Johnson but he is regularly involved in the politics of the NFL.

When James intercepted a pass against Durant’s team earlier this week and returned it for a touchdown he proceeded to imitate Johnson’s touchdown celebration. To the naive, the ignorant, the uninformed, the bias and the stupid, this would have seemed like James was copying Johnson in mocking Burress.

In reality, as I said, James is a friend and a fan of Burress, he is much more aware of the ramifications of his actions and the last thing he is going to do is mock another controversial professional athlete, especially one that had spent time behind bars. Call him whatever you want but he just would not do that, and Hugh Douglas is clearly one of the millions of sheep that have joined this LeBron James hate bandwagon.

Those were the three tweets Douglas tweeted upon seeing the video. Why is it every time LeBron makes a comment everyone shoots him down because he hasn’t won a championship? That doesn’t even make sense? LeBron James makes a comment on something to do with the NFL and everyone screams at him to win a championship before he can open his mouth. So apparently freedom of speech is limited to those who have won championships. If so then I can think of at least 100 names of the top of my head that should be addressed much earlier than LeBron James.

But basically this was a complete overreaction from Douglas who clearly has no idea what he is talking about and has made it blatantly clear that he is part of the flock of sheep that is America in the hatred of LeBron James. You are all the same, you all have the same boring, recycled argument. I always love when people try to explain why they are different to the majority of haters and all the ridiculous reasons they come up with. Hugh Douglas will no doubt do the same.

LeBron James Beats Kevin Durant in Flag Football Classic in Akron

Posted in : Gossips

(added few months ago!)

To no one’s real surprise, LeBron James and his team aptly named ‘Team Bron’ downed Kevin Durant and his team 70-63. No it was not the Patriots vs Packers, although the score might suggest is was completely defense-less, the game was said to be of great excitement and we saw plenty of both superstars. The NBA players involved were asked to sign a waiver before the game, pushing those watching to the very edge of their seats in hope that neither James, nor Durant would suffer an injury that would put prolong their basketball-less breaks.

LeBron James Beats Kevin Durant in Flag Football Classic in Akro

LeBron had two interceptions in the game, the first he returned for a touchdown and the lattercoming in the final seconds to ensure victory. Sounds pretty clutch to me. He also had a first half offensive touchdown. Kevin Durant also had a pick six, but otherwise was largely overshadowed by the home town kid. James said at half time he wanted his team to win by 21 points, but Durant’s side pulled their way back into the game in the second half only for LeBron to seal the win with an interception.

This will likely close the LeBron James, NFL hysteria that clouded a significant portion of the offseason. James initially was asking John Clayton when the final date for signing NFL free agents was, which prompted Pete Carroll, Seahawks head coach, to start tweeting his teams interest in James, to the point of sending him a photo of what his Seahawks jersey might look like. It would have been cool to see him in the NFL. But it’s certainly cooler to have the NBA back again.

LeBron James excited over basketball

Posted in : Gossips, Videos

(added few months ago!)

With hundreds of boxes of food sitting behind them ready to be distributed to Brooklyn families, LeBron James and his famous friends were determined to stay on message.

More than two dozen media members crowded around James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul on Tuesday, and question after question came about the NBA with a tentative deal in place to end the lockout.

Will Paul leave New Orleans to join Anthony with the Knicks? Are the new rules designed to prevent stars from abandoning smaller-market teams as James and Anthony did?

"As far as the ins and outs about the deal, we won't discuss today," James said. "We're going to discuss about how excited I am, how excited we are, about the game of basketball being back and about all the people who have been out of jobs and the fans who have been out of watching basketball for the 140-plus days from the lockout. It's a great moment for all of us."

Paul can become a free agent after this season, and the new agreement would still allow the Hornets to send him to another team through a sign-and-trade deal to get something in return if it appears he's determined to leave. New York has been his long-rumored destination.

Paul insisted "my heart is in New Orleans.""Ah, man, I have no idea about that different type stuff," he said. "I think right now the thing I'm most focused on is getting all these boxes out of my house in North Carolina and getting everything shipped back to New Orleans so I can get ready for the season."

Paul was in New York -- at a community center in Brooklyn -- for this day to help distribute 800 meals to local families through Anthony's foundation in conjunction with Feed the Children and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

"These guys are not even from around here, they don't even play here, but they came back to somebody else's community to give back, and I think that should be the topic of discussion today," Anthony said.

No such luck. Anthony was asked about the scandal swirling at his alma mater, Syracuse, where longtime assistant Bernie Fine was fired after molestation allegations and coach Jim Boeheim has heard calls to resign.

"My heart goes out to the families. I have no comment about the Fine situation or the Boeheim situation," Anthony said. "That's a sensitive situation, a sensitive topic right now that I don't even want to go into."

NBA players and owners reached a handshake agreement early Saturday, and the four stars said Tuesday they were hopeful their counterparts would vote to approve the deal. Games would start on Christmas, including Boston at New York and Miami at Dallas.

Somebody noted that James' and Wade's Heat had longer than normal to stew after losing in the finals. Wade agreed, though Paul interjected: "Not as long as us." Indeed, the Hornets and Knicks each lost in the first round of the playoffs.

"We're excited about another opportunity," Wade said of his Miami team that so polarized fans after James and Chris Bosh joined him there. "Hopefully everyone stays healthy and we just get an opportunity to come out every night and put our best team on the court and see what we get."

Weighty expectations also confront Anthony and the Knicks -- with or without Paul -- after he was traded from Denver during last season. "We had a short run last year," Anthony said. "And now we get a training camp together. We get time to jell."
